Average gain for children who start ABA therapy at 3 or younger
The early years are when language and social development happen fastest, which is exactly why starting therapy young can lead to such strong results. A child building skills like requesting, imitating, and connecting with others at 2 is doing it while their brain is primed for exactly that kind of growth. This isn’t just our own experience either. Research on Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) has consistently found that children who start younger tend to see stronger outcomes in IQ, adaptive behavior, and language over time. That’s a big part of why we encourage families to start as early as they’re ready, and our own data backs it up.
It’s also true that therapy works at every age. Our outcomes data shows meaningful, measurable gains for children who start later too. If your child is starting ABA at 4, 5, or beyond, that’s still the right time, and you’ll still see real progress.

Functional communication tends to develop faster.
Social engagement with peers and siblings shows up earlier.
Independence in daily routines builds at a younger age.
Stronger school readiness skills, like following directions, sitting for group activities, and transitioning between tasks.
Earlier reduction in behaviors and other barriers that get in the way of learning.
The data on our page shows meaningful gains across every age group we’ve tracked, not just the youngest children. Early is best, but it’s not the only path to real progress. If your child is older and just getting evaluated, that’s still a good time to start.
