From CST Academy’s Clinical Team

Does ABA Therapy Actually Work?

Yes. ABA therapy works, and we can prove it with our own data, not just the research. Our learners were tracked with the VB-MAPP over up to two years, showing real, measurable gains in language, play, and independence.

What the Data Actually Shows

  • Most families notice change within the first 6 months.
  • Progress keeps building through a full year and beyond, it doesn’t level off.
  • Every starting point in our data showed improvement, not just children who started with stronger baseline skills.
  • Children who started at 3 or younger showed the strongest early progress.

Behind every point on that assessment is something a parent actually notices: a word, a request, a moment of play that didn’t happen before.

What Makes CST Academy’s Data Different

Our outcomes tracking is led by Megan Morien, BCBA, LBA and Chief Clinical Officer, and reviewed as part of how we run every ABA program across all eight locations. We’re not a single-service ABA chain. CST Academy is a multidisciplinary practice, ABA, speech, OT, PT, and feeding therapy, all coordinated across the same team. That means a learner’s ABA data doesn’t sit alone. Progress in communication often shows up faster when a speech therapist and a BCBA are looking at the same child’s goals in the same week.

Common Questions

How long until we see results?

Most learners in our data show measurable progress within 6 months. Growth continues through a year and beyond.

What if my child has higher support needs?

Our data shows gains across every starting skill level we’ve tracked, not just children who started with stronger baseline scores. Individualized, BCBA-driven programming is built for that.

Does starting earlier actually matter that much?

In our data, yes. Children who started at 3 or younger showed the strongest gains of any group.

How is this different from what other ABA providers show families?

Most providers talk about outcomes through stories and testimonials, which are real, but not measurable. We track our learners’ progress with standardized assessments, like the VB-MAPP for our younger learners, and show the aggregate data, not just the anecdotes.

Ready to see what’s possible for your child?

This data reflects a retrospective look at younger learners at CST Academy assessed using the VB-MAPP Milestones Assessment over a 6-month to 2-year period. Older learners, or those outside the VB-MAPP’s developmental range, are tracked using other standardized assessments and aren’t included in this dataset. Results vary based on age, starting skill level, therapy hours, and each child’s individual needs. These improvements are meaningful but not guaranteed, and shouldn’t be read as typical for every child.
